titleOfInvention | Hybrid auxiliary materials for use in surgical stapling |
abstract | Provided herein are implantable materials for use with end effector-like surgical stapling devices and methods associated with the operation of such end effectors. In one exemplary embodiment, the staple cartridge assembly includes a cartridge body and a hybrid auxiliary material. The cartridge body has a plurality of staple cavities configured to place staples therein. The hybrid auxiliary material is releasably retained on the cartridge body and is configured to be delivered to the tissue by deploying staples in the cartridge body. The material includes a biological tissue membrane, a synthetic substrate layer, and at least one compressible elastic member that compresses and removes the compressive force when a compressive force is applied thereto. Is configured to provide a rebound force when done. Other implants, devices, and methods for surgical stapling are also provided. |
