An insulin complex comprising an insulin molecule covalently bound to at least one bidentate linker having two arms, each arm independently bound to a saccharide-containing ligand, wherein at least one of said linkers An insulin complex is disclosed in which the ligand is fucose. Even when administered to a subject in need of administration in the absence of an exogenous polyvalent saccharide-binding molecule such as ConA, the insulin complex is a whole body of saccharides such as glucose or α-methylmannose.
