The present invention relates to a zeolite adsorbent based on agglomerated FAU zeolite crystals containing barium and / or potassium, having a large external surface area and combining optimum properties for selectivity and mechanical strength. These adsorbents separate fractions of C8 aromatic isomers, especially xylenes, isomers of substituted toluenes such as nitrotoluene, diethyltoluene or toluenediamine, and cresols, and many other sugars.
