titleOfInvention | Luer connection adapter for retractable needle syringes |
abstract | A connector attachable to the syringe needle has a proximal barrel engaging portion, a distal barrel engaging portion, and a fluid hole provided through the engaging portion. The tube engaging portion of the connector has an axial shelf projection configured to abut the axial distal edge of the glass syringe needle. The connector facilitates attachment of the luer assembly to the syringe needle. The luer assembly may be a tip cap with a complementary luer attachment that is connectable to a luer attachment portion of the connector. The luer assembly may be a luer needle assembly with a complementary luer attachment that is connectable to a luer attachment portion of the connector. The connector and syringe may have a stationary compressible needle seal. The needle seal is located adjacent to or engageable with the tube engaging portion of the connector. The syringe may be configured with a plunger that can engage a retractable needle. |
