abstract | Liquid intumescent coating composition comprising: (a) from 25.0% to 75.0% by volume of one or more organic thermosetting polymers and said organic thermosetting polymer One or more curing agents of: (b) 1.0 vol% to 70.0 vol% of phosphoric acid or sulfonic acid source; (c) 6.0 vol% to 60.0 vol% A source of boric acid, (d) 0-2.0% by volume of melamine or a melamine derivative, (e) 0-1.0% by volume of one or more isocyanurate derivatives, wherein component (a ), Component (b), component (c), component (d) and component (e) volume percent is calculated based on the total volume of non-volatile components in the coating composition. The thermosetting intumescent coating composition of the present invention is suitable for protecting a substrate from a hydrocarbon flame (eg, a jet flame). The coating composition of the present invention can be used without using a supporting network. The invention also relates to a substrate coated with an intumescent coating composition and a method for protecting a structure from a flame. |
