An oil-in-water emulsion having an aqueous phase and an oil phase. The aqueous phase is greater than about 0.5% of the neutralized acid salt form, wherein the acid is preferably a salicylic acid salt form, and from about 2 wt% to about 0.00%. 001% gum by weight. Oil-in-water emulsions are stable, ie, substantially no change in chemical state and physical uniformity upon exposure to a temperature of about 50 ° C. and a humidity of 60% RH for 14 days. The gum is preferably xanthan gum and the emulsion may contain from about 0.01 to about 10% emulsifier. |
