abstract The present invention relates to a method for preserving fresh ornamental plant parts such as cut flowers. More particularly, the present invention is a method for preserving a part of an ornamental plant having a water content of more than 50% by weight, comprising 0.5 to 97% by weight of liquefied or supercritical solvent, 1 to 50% by weight of Contacting the part of the ornamental plant with a storage medium containing dissolved non-volatile organic preservative and 0-92% by weight co-solvent, wherein the combination of solvent, preservative and optional co-solvent is at least of the storage medium A method is provided, comprising: occupying 80% by weight and the storage medium has a pressure of at least 30 bar; and recovering a portion of the stored processed ornamental plant. These preserved processed ornamental plant parts retain an attractive appearance for weeks or months without the need for special attention or care. [Selection figure] None
