A method of forming a laminated adhesive article includes providing a multilayer article, an embossing tool having a structured surface, and a support surface tool. The multilayer article may include a substrate, an adhesive layer, and a liner, or may include only an adhesive layer and a liner. The multilayer article is disposed between the structured surface of the embossing tool and the support surface tool. By applying pressure or a combination of pressure and heat, the embossing tool is pressed against the liner and simultaneously the support surface tool is pressed against the substrate. By this pressing, the liner and the adhesive layer are deformed by the structure on the surface of the embossing tool, and the surface of the substrate is modified by the supporting surface tool. Liner deformation is retained when the applied pressure is released. When removing the liner from the adhesive layer, the structure on the adhesive layer is unstable but does not collapse immediately. |
