The present invention generally relates to medical devices and methods. More specifically, the present invention describes an externally placed device for monitoring, diagnosing, and optionally treating snoring and sleep apnea. A device for monitoring patient breathing includes a collar having a microprocessor and a memory connectable to a plurality of sensors. The treatment device provides similar diagnostic capabilities and further provides an energy delivery element for stimulating the patient's upper airway muscle to terminate an apnea or sputum event. |
