The present invention provides recombinant carboxydotrophic clostridial microorganisms with increased overall NADPH utilization relative to the parental microorganism. Furthermore, the present invention provides a method for producing recombinant carboxydotrophic clostridial microorganisms that exhibit increased NADPH utilization relative to the parental microorganism. In particular, the present invention relates to increasing the overall utilization of NADPH in recombinant carboxydotrophic clostridial microorganisms to increase the production of at least one fermentation product by the microorganism.
