abstract Use of laundry detergent compositions that provide an antibacterial effect. The laundry detergent composition comprises at least 2.9%, preferably 3.2% to 30%, more preferably 4.3% to 20% by weight of linear alkylbenzene sulfonate (LAS) of the composition. The laundry detergent composition can deliver a free LAS monomer concentration in the laundry wash liquor of greater than 60 ppm, preferably 67 ppm to 500 ppm, more preferably 88 ppm to 300 ppm.
