Specifically, 4-amino-5-fluoro-3-chloro-6- (substituted) from a non-pyridine source without the use of metal assisted coupling and without fluorination with expensive fluorinating agents Methods for preparing picolinate are provided herein. These picolinates are useful as herbicides.
