abstract | Provided herein is a method of treating cancer in a cancer patient by overcoming resistance of a cancer cell to a drug, or a method of overcoming resistance of a cancer cell to a drug, comprising an effective amount of Said method comprising administering to said patient (i) an EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor or a B-Raf kinase inhibitor, and (ii) an HDAC inhibitor. Also provided is a method for inhibiting or preventing the growth of sustained drug resistant (DTP) cells, wherein these cells are combined with an HDAC inhibitor in combination with an EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor or B-Raf. Said method comprising contacting with a kinase inhibitor. Also provided is a method for inhibiting or preventing colonization of drug resistant sustained extension (DTEP) cells, comprising an EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor in combination with an HDAC inhibitor or Said method comprising contacting with a B-Raf kinase inhibitor.
