abstract |
The present disclosure relates to the production of ergothioneine by either in vitro enzymatic conversion or fermentation using microorganisms created by metabolic engineering. Also disclosed are transformed cells useful in such methods and ergothioneine produced by such methods. The transformed cells of the present disclosure are capable of converting histidine and cysteine or helsinin and cysteine to ergothioneine with much higher efficiency than untransformed wild type cells. |
