A process for the direct production of biofuel compounds from carboxylic esters recovered from a fermentation system is described. The process comprises obtaining a fermentation broth in a dry powder containing a free organic acid; in order to synthesize an ester, the carboxylic acid in the powder is mixed with an alcohol solvent, a CO 2 -containing atmosphere, and the like. Reacting at a reaction temperature and pressure corresponding to the supercritical, critical or near-critical conditions of at least one of alcohol or CO 2 in the absence of an acid catalyst; A step of subjecting to either hydrocracking or hydrogenation.
