titleOfInvention Circular needle applier
abstract The surgical suturing system includes a reusable shaft having a proximal end and a distal end, the distal end having a receiver and a rotational drive. The reusable actuator is connected to the proximal end of the shaft. The disposable cartridge is adapted to be removable from the receptacle. The cartridge includes an arc-shaped track, an arc needle having a tip and a rear end and disposed in the track, a length of suture connected to the rear end, a needle engaging the needle, and A reciprocating needle driver operable to move the needle within an arcuate circular track, and a transmission operably connected to the needle driver having a rotational input adapted to couple to the rotational drive. The reusable shaft and actuator can be autoclavable.
