abstract | A method for forming a ceramic-ceramic bond and a bond that includes a multi-phase ceramic bond region. First and second ceramic parts 15 and 20 both of which are nitrides, and an aluminum starting bonding region 10 for bonding both of them, and the aluminum starting bonding region 10 diffuses into the aluminum starting bonding region 10. The first and second ceramic portions 15 and 20 include a chemical species 30 from the first and second ceramic portions 15 and 20, and the first ceramic portion 15 includes a first bonding diffusion region disposed adjacent to the aluminum starting bonding region 10. The first bonding diffusion region includes aluminum seed 25 from the aluminum starting bonding region 10 diffused into the first bonding diffusion region, and the second ceramic portion 20 is adjacent to the aluminum starting bonding region 10. A second junction diffusion region disposed thereon, wherein the second junction diffusion region is aluminum from the aluminum initiation junction region 10 diffused into the second junction diffusion region.
