abstract | [PROBLEMS] To suppress moisture absorption deterioration of a mold in a mold material composition using casting sand containing an alkali silicate as a binder. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A mold material composition comprising a molding sand containing an alkali silicate as a binder and a moisture-resistant agent that prevents moisture absorption deterioration after molding. The humectant is at least selected from the group consisting of an ionic compound containing a cation ion-exchangeable with an alkali silicate in an aqueous solution, and an ionic compound containing a cation that gels with the alkali silicate in the reaction.
