abstract A modified oligonucleotide for telomerase inhibition is provided. Disclosed are compounds comprising an oligonucleotide moiety covalently linked to a lipid moiety. The oligonucleotide portion comprises a sequence that is complementary to the RNA component of human telomerase. The compounds inhibit telomerase activity with high potency in cells and have excellent cellular uptake properties. This means that comparable biological effects can be obtained with the use of smaller amounts of bound oligonucleotide compared to the unmodified form. The compositions and methods of the present invention relate to telomerase inhibitor compounds comprising an oligonucleotide and at least one covalently bonded lipid group. [Selection figure] None
