【Task】 To provide an electrolyte membrane capable of operating a polymer electrolyte fuel cell under high temperature conditions and low humidification conditions. [Solution] It is an electrolyte membrane for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell in which an ion exchange group is bonded to a graft chain of an aromatic hydrocarbon polymer resin containing an inorganic filler. The aromatic hydrocarbon polymer resin is preferably polyetheretherketone or a derivative thereof. The polymer electrolyte fuel cell of the present invention comprises a membrane electrode assembly in which a fuel electrode is joined to one membrane surface of the above electrolyte membrane for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell and an air electrode is joined to the other membrane surface.
