An industrial process for producing chiral-1,1-difluoro-2-propanol is provided. The optical purity of chiral-1,1-difluoro-2-propanol is increased by allowing 1,1-difluoroacetone to act on a microorganism having an activity for asymmetric reduction of acetone or an enzyme having the activity.
