abstract |
The present invention provides a catalyst that suppresses coking in the production of aldehydes by hydrogenation from carboxylic acids and is excellent in selectivity and yield of aldehydes and / or alcohols. Another object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing aldehydes and / or alcohols from carboxylic acids excellent in selectivity and yield of aldehydes and / or alcohols using the catalyst. The catalyst of the present invention is a catalyst for producing aldehydes and / or alcohols by hydrogenation from carboxylic acids, and contains molybdenum, palladium and iron oxide. The catalyst of the present invention preferably contains 0.1 to 40 parts by weight of molybdenum and 1 to 50 parts by weight of palladium with respect to 100 parts by weight of iron oxide. In addition, the catalyst of the present invention is preferably obtained by drying and then baking a dispersion or solution containing the molybdenum, the palladium, and the iron component.
