abstract To provide a water-absorbent resin composition that has high water-absorbing performance, does not emit bad odor, and exhibits a sufficient antibacterial effect. The water absorbent resin composition of the present invention comprises an organic hydrophobic antibacterial agent, a hydrophilic and nonvolatile organic solvent, and a water absorbent resin. It is preferable that the organic hydrophobic antibacterial agent and the organic solvent adhere to the surface of the water absorbent resin in an island shape. It is also preferable that the organic solvent is at least one hydrophilic organic solvent selected from the group consisting of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, and butylene glycol.
