Porous materials aimed at reducing or preventing the formation of fibrous coatings, methods for producing these porous materials, implantable medical devices containing such porous materials, and methods for producing the same Provided. A porous material comprising a non-degradable, biocompatible elastomeric matrix that defines an array of interconnected pores, the porous material having a porosity of at least 40%. And the porous material exhibits an elastic elongation of at least 80%. Preferably, the elastomeric matrix includes a silicone-based elastomer. More preferably, the porous material exhibits a reversible elastic elongation of 90% or more, an ultimate strength of 1 MPa or more, a bending strength of a maximum of 50 MPa, and a compressibility of a maximum of 30 kPa.
