Provided is a method for producing 4-alkyl-3-methylenebutyl carboxylate such as 7-methyl-3-methylene-7-octenyl propionate which is simple, selective and efficient. Disclosed is a diacyloxylation step in which a 4-halo-2-halomethyl-1-butene compound (6) is diasiloxylated to give 3-acyloxymethyl-3-butenyl carboxylate compound (3); A coupling step of obtaining a 4-alkyl-3-methylenebutyl carboxylate compound (5) by coupling a siloxymethyl-3-butenyl carboxylate compound (3) with an organometallic reagent (4); A process for producing a 4-alkyl-3-methylenebutyl carboxylate compound.
