abstract | The present invention provides a means capable of sensitively detecting or quantifying HBZ protein that plays an important role in the development of HTLV-1-related diseases. An antibody that specifically binds to a peptide consisting of the amino acid sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 4, an antibody that specifically binds to a peptide consisting of the amino acid sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 5, and an amino acid sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 6 A reagent for detecting an HBZ protein, comprising at least one antibody selected from the group consisting of antibodies that specifically bind to peptides; a diagnostic agent for HTLV-1-related diseases, comprising at least two of said antibodies; and (1) A step of bringing a blood sample derived from a subject into contact with the antibody to form a complex of the HBZ protein and the antibody contained in the blood sample; and (2) the HBZ protein in the complex formed in step (1).
