abstract |
An object of the present invention is to lubricate a trunk piston marine engine for a medium speed 4-stroke compression ignition (diesel) marine engine. When a heavy fuel oil is used as a fuel, a trunk piston marine engine lubricating oil composition for improving asphaltene processing performance during use of the trunk piston marine engine is provided. The product comprises an oil of lubricating viscosity and a small amount of each of the following components: (A) an overbased metal hydrocarbyl-substituted hydroxybenzoate detergent system, and (B) preferably a halogen- or radical-assisted functionalization method.
