PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cement additive capable of exhibiting water reduction performance superior to a conventional cement additive using lignin. A cement additive containing a lignin derivative, wherein the lignin derivative is obtained by oxidizing a lignin skeleton of a lignin using an oxidizing agent under acidic conditions, and the lignin is an elemental sulfur.
