abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a composition for an electric wire coating material which is excellent in trauma resistance, low-temperature flexibility, and tear resistance, and an insulated wire using the same. A composition for a wire covering material containing polyvinyl chloride contains 15 to 30 parts by mass of a plasticizer and 0.01 to 10 parts by mass of a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer with respect to 100 parts by mass of polyvinyl chloride. It is set as the composition for wire coating materials. This wire coating material composition is used as a wire coating material, and the insulated wire 10 is formed by coating the outer periphery of the conductor 12 with the insulation coating layer 14.
