abstract | An object of the present invention is to provide a position coordinate specifying accuracy improving means in an apparatus for specifying a position coordinate by using dot pattern coding. An input unit including an illumination unit and an image sensor and an input medium are included. In the input medium, the position coordinates on the input surface are coded by a dot pattern, and the dot pattern includes dots that show retroreflectivity with respect to light incident from an oblique direction. The input unit irradiates the input medium with light from the illumination unit, and receives the light reflected by the dots included in the dot pattern at the imaging unit, thereby acquiring the position information of the dot pattern.
