Alkylated hydroxyaromatic compounds substantially free of endocrine disrupting chemicals |
abstract |
An alkylated hydroxyaromatic compound is produced. At least one hydroxyaromatic compound is reacted with at least one branched olefinic propylene oligomer having from about 20 to about 80 carbon atoms in the presence of an acid catalyst. However, the at least one branched olefinic propylene oligomer does not substantially contain any vinylidene group. For the alkylated hydroxyaromatic compounds, the effects on the development and thyroid function of the mature stage in virgin immature female rats were quantified, and it was confirmed that the endocrine disrupting chemicals were substantially absent.
