abstract An abnormality determination device for an oxidation catalyst provided in an exhaust passage. An abnormality determination device calculates a cetane number detection unit for detecting a cetane number of a fuel and a required exhaust gas temperature Tce based on the detected cetane number so that the detected exhaust gas temperature Tce increases as the detected cetane number decreases. The required exhaust gas temperature calculating unit, the upstream exhaust gas temperature raising unit that raises the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing into the DOC, and the upstream exhaust gas temperature Tin that is detected when the conditions for executing the DOC abnormality determination are established. When it is determined that the detected exhaust gas temperature is lower than the required exhaust gas temperature Tce, the upstream exhaust gas temperature Tin detected using the upstream exhaust gas temperature raising unit is increased to the calculated required exhaust gas temperature Tce, and then the temperature difference before and after the DOC. An abnormality determination unit that determines whether or not the DOC is abnormal based on a comparison result between ΔT and a predetermined threshold value ΔTth.
