titleOfInvention | Polyimide nano-modified backbone with bifunctional and mixed functional end caps |
abstract | Disclosed is a polyimide made from an oligomer having a main chain comprising at least one nanoparticle component and having an end cap that is bifunctional or a mixture of bifunctional and monofunctional. The end cap may be nadic acid or phenylethynyl. The main chain may be completely inorganic or may be made from a mixture of inorganic and organic groups. Oligomers may be made in situ using standard polymerization of monomer reactant chemistry using a solvent, and are provided as pre-imidized compounds, which may be either solid or liquid. May be. The nanoparticle component of the polymer backbone appears to provide superior thermal oxidative stability compared to the unmodified organic backbone. In addition, by providing a bifunctional or bifunctional or monofunctional mixed endcap, it provides a cross-linking that provides improved strength and rigidity compared to a fully monofunctional endcapped oligomer of polyimide. An increase is likely to be possible. The nanoparticles are part of the polymer backbone and are not at all pendant groups. [Selection figure] None |
