An apparatus and method for coating a honeycomb segment prior to mounting on a turbomachine or attachment to a turbomachine component. Forming a honeycomb segment (8) having a first surface (36) and an opposite second surface (37) and applying a coating material on the honeycomb segment (8). The coating material does not spread over the first surface (36) and the opposite second surface (37), and the first surface (36) is disposed on the first fixture (4); A method for producing a pre-coated honeycomb segment (8), further comprising the step of forming a coating on the honeycomb segment (8). Method of removing the gel (62) from the first surface (36) and the second surface (37) after the coating material is immersed in the gel (62) in the honeycomb cement (8) and dried. |
