titleOfInvention Electro-optic modulator assembly, electro-optic modulator material, and NCAP electro-optic modulator material
abstract An electro-optic modulator for a sensor with improved sensitivity and lifetime is provided. An electro-optic modulator assembly includes a sensor layer formed from an electro-optic modulator material comprising liquid crystal droplets encased in a polymer matrix. The sensor layer material includes an interfacial agent, such as an antifoam agent, in an amount sufficient to reduce the inherent operating voltage that allows the sensor layer to transmit light. The antifoaming agent includes from about 1 to about 10 weight percent electro-optic modulator material, and the antifoaming agent is, for example, at least of a siloxane having reactive end groups, a reactive fluorinated polymer, or a nonionic block copolymer Either can include reactive components that react with the polymer matrix. The assembly may further include a hard coating layer that protects the sensor layer. [Selection] Figure 2
