Improved solvent system for formulation and application of N-alkylthiophosphate triamide urease inhibitors. These formulations offer safety and performance advantages over existing alternatives and allow storage, transportation, and subsequent coating or incorporation with urea-based or organic-based fertilizers. These formulations mainly contain environmentally friendly aprotic and protic solvents (especially dimethyl sulfoxide and alcohol / polyol) in order to stabilize urease inhibitors.
