abstract | A process for the production of chlorinated propene is provided. The process, by itself or in combination with 1,2,3-trichloropropane, uses a by-product in the production of 1,2-dichloropropane, chlorohydrin, as a low cost starting material. At least one dehydrochlorination step is performed in the gas phase, which is the first process step. The process can also be removed from the process and produce anhydrous HCl as a by-product that can be used as a feedstock for other processes, providing additional time and cost savings.
