abstract | A processor-implemented method for controlling an insulin infusion device for a user is presented herein. In the first method, a calibration factor (and corresponding time stamp data) for a continuous glucose sensor is obtained and analyzed, and adjustments are made to enter the closed loop mode of operation of the infusion device based on the calibration factor and time stamp data. The second method obtains the most recent sensor glucose value and target glucose setpoint value for the user at the start of the closed loop mode. In the second method, the closed-loop insulin infusion rate is adjusted over time in response to the sensor glucose value and the set point value. In the third method, the upper insulin limit that is applied to the insulin infusion rate in the closed loop mode is calculated. The insulin limit is calculated based on the user's fasting blood glucose level, the user's total daily insulin value, and the user's fasting insulin delivery data. |
