The present invention relates to a process for oligomerization of ethylene, said process comprising: a) feeding ethylene, a solvent, and a catalyst composition comprising a catalyst and a cocatalyst into a reactor; b) ethylene. A reactor effluent comprising an oligomerization in the reactor; c) a linear α-olefin comprising 1-butene, a solvent, unconsumed ethylene dissolved in the reactor effluent, and a catalyst composition. Discharging the product from the reactor, d) separating the ethylene and 1-butene together from the remaining reactor effluent, and e) separating the ethylene and 1-butene separated in step d) Recycling at least a portion into the reactor. |
