A ceramic plug forming paste useful for making a plug having a through hole (partial plug) in a ceramic honeycomb filter, the plug forming paste comprising a ceramic particulate material and a flowable carrier, wherein the ceramic particulate material is The plug-forming paste has sufficient fluidity, so that the flowable carrier is present in a sufficient amount, so that the plug-forming paste has a sufficient fluidity.
