abstract A battery charging device and a method for charging a battery are described. The device has at least one location having a housing, at least one hopper configured to receive a plurality of batteries, and a charging slot adjacent to the hopper and configured to receive and support a battery. A mating barrel. The alignment barrel moves the battery supported by the charging slot toward and from the charging station with a set of charging terminals configured to contact the battery terminals to charge the battery. Structured as follows. The device further comprises at least one dispensing chute and at least one rejection chute. The chutes are configured to accept batteries that are charged or rejected by the device, and each of the chutes is structured to accommodate several batteries.
