The present invention is a method for controlling undesirable plants at a plant cultivation site, wherein the herbicide is resistant by applying an effective amount of a protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO) -inhibiting herbicide to the site. Or to said method comprising the step of providing at said site a plant comprising at least one nucleic acid comprising a nucleotide sequence encoding a resistant wild-type or mutated PPO.
