titleOfInvention | Reduction of carbon dioxide to product |
abstract | Steps (A) to (C) can be included in the method of reducing carbon dioxide to one or more products. In step (A), carbon dioxide can be bubbled into the electrolyte and catalyst solution in the split electrochemical cell. The split electrochemical cell can include an anode in the first cell compartment and a cathode in the second cell compartment. Carbon dioxide can be reduced to product by the cathode. In step (B), (a) cathode material, (b) cathode surface morphology, (c) electrolyte, (d) carbon dioxide bubbling method, (e) solution pH level, and (f) splitting. One or more of the electrochemical cell potentials can be adjusted to change (i) which product is produced and (ii) at least one of the Faraday yields of the product. In step (C), the product can be separated from the solution. [Selection] Figure 1 |
