Golf balls include a relatively large polymer core and have soft ball compression. This polymer is, in the illustrated embodiment, a highly neutralized acid polymer. A golf ball may optionally include an outer core made of a different material such as a thermoset polybutadiene rubber. A golf ball may optionally include a mantle layer made of an ionomer material. An inner core with a diameter of 24 mm to 40 mm, depending on the design, 28 mm to 32 mm, provides increased iron initial speed and lower iron spin while maintaining driver performance. |
