abstract | A photoluminescent color display is a display panel that includes a plurality of pixels composed of red, green, and blue sub-pixel regions, an excitation source operable to generate excitation radiation for operating the display, light A luminescent color element plate. The photoluminescent color element plate is at least one light, such as a phosphor material or a quantum dot, operable to emit light corresponding to the red, green, and blue subpixel regions of the display in response to the excitation radiation. Contains a luminescent material. The photoluminescent color display may also include a wavelength selective filter provided between the photoluminescent color element plate and the excitation source. The wavelength selective filter prevents cross-contamination of light between different color sub-pixel regions of the display by preventing photoluminescence light from passing back to the excitation source, while preventing the passage of excitation radiation. It has a transmission feature that allows excitation of the photoluminescent material. |
