abstract | A method of forming an active agent-containing microcapsule comprising: (I) emulsifying the active agent in water in the presence of a polymeric emulsifier; (Ii) pre-adding a blend of at least two silanes to the emulsion thus formed, and hydrolyzing them; (Iii) forming a shell by increasing the pH; Formed by the process, (Iv) the polymeric emulsifier also acts as a templating agent for the organosilicon compound; (V) silane has the formula I (wherein, R is a linear or branched alkyl or alkene C 1 -C 4 independently comprises a functional group selected from amino and epoxy optionally, wherein m is 1 to 4 and is selected such that there are at least two silanes having different functionalities m). The resulting microcapsules have excellent properties and are particularly effective for use with fragrances. |
