abstract The present disclosure includes a sheet of carbon nanotubes, a sulfur-carbon nanotube composite comprising sulfur nucleated on the carbon nanotubes, and a method for synthesizing the same. In some embodiments, the sulfur-carbon composite may further include no binder and may include a sheet of carbon nanotubes, eliminating the need for a binder and current collector. In other embodiments of the present disclosure, a cathode comprising a sulfur-carbon nanotube composite is disclosed. In additional embodiments of the present disclosure, the battery may include a cathode as described herein. These batteries can achieve high rate characteristics.
