titleOfInvention | Cancer-specific suicide genes for cell-based or gene therapy |
abstract | The present invention selectively induces cancer cells derived from stem cells or progenitor cells without significant impact on healthy tissue or other (non-cancerous) cells derived from stem cells or progenitor cells when induced. Pluripotent or pluripotent stem cells, including embryonic stem cells, induced pluripotent stem cells, adult stem cells, or other progenitor cells, modified to contain killable inducible cancer-specific suicide gene constructs I will provide a. The suicide gene construct expresses a dominant negative MYC interference protein (D-MIP) that acts as a tumor suppressor in cancer cells without having a significant adverse effect on healthy cells and tissues. The suicide gene construct can also be used for gene therapy in which cancer develops in the presence of a gene therapy vector. Furthermore, the suicide gene construct can discriminate between cancerous cells and non-cancerous cells modified with a gene therapy vector, and kill only cancerous cells. [Selection] Figure 13 |
