abstract | The present invention relates to I.D. (A) a hydrocarbon solution containing (1) an organic oxygen-containing magnesium compound or halogen-containing compound and (2) an organic oxygen-containing titanium compound, and (b) a metal compound having the formula MeR n X 3-n (wherein X Is a halide, Me is a Group III metal of the periodic table of chemical elements of Mendeleev, R is a hydrocarbon radical containing 1 to 10 carbon atoms, 0 ≦ n ≦ 3), and the formula Reaction with a mixture comprising a silicon compound of R m SiCl 4-m , wherein 0 ≦ n ≦ 2 and R is a hydrocarbon radical containing 1 to 10 carbon atoms, comprising: A solid reaction product obtained by a reaction in which the molar ratio of the metal from (b) to titanium from is less than 1; II. An organoaluminum compound having the formula AlR 3 , wherein R is a hydrocarbon radical containing 1 to 10 carbon atoms; and III. The invention relates to a catalyst system for producing ultra high molecular weight polyethylene comprising an external electron donor selected from the group of 1,2-dialkoxyalkanes, 1,2-dialkoxyalkenes and external polymeric electron donors. |
