titleOfInvention | Submicron rare earth borate, its production method and use as phosphor |
abstract | Disclosed is a phosphor having a very small, submicron (ie, less than 1 micron) size, particularly less than 500 nm, and a transparent luminescent material in the form of a film. A liquid phase suspension of substantially single crystal particles having a rare earth borate average size in the range of 100-400 nm and a dispersion index of up to 0.7. A suspension in which the rare earth constituting the rare earth borate contains Y, Gd, La, Lu, and Sc, and contains Sb, Bi, and an element selected from rare earths other than the rare earth as dopants. The borate is calcined from a rare earth borocarbonate or hydroxyborocarbonate at a temperature sufficient to form a borate and to obtain a product having a specific surface area of at least 3 m @ 2 / g. A production method for wet-pulverizing the obtained product. A method for producing a rare earth borate that can be used as a luminescent material, particularly for producing a luminescent transparent material. [Selection] Figure 1 |
